Summary

Two lives。 One hour。 A lifetime consequence。

I believe in choice, not fate。
I chose to nurse a broken heart at the kitschy country bar that night。
I chose to let Isaac Cordova buy me a drink。
I chose to spend one hour with a near stranger in an attempt to soothe my pain。
No last names, no details about our lives, just one hour where I was allowed to forget, and then we would never see each other again。

But was it a choice when I ran into him five years later?
I needed help, and he was the only person equipped to give it。
Our instant attraction doesn’t feel like much of a choice either, but it doesn't matter。
Everything has changed。
Now my choices impact other people。
And what will I choose?
Do I keep Isaac out?
Do I dare to let him in?

Very quick read。 But this book was so boring! Very predictable, the heroine drove me up a wall

I'll stop rating books I dnf but this is a reminder to myself to NOT pick up this book again。 It's like Anna and the French Kiss all over again, where we're supposed to turn against the girlfriend/fiancee who's totally NOT in the wrong while the two MCs are selfishly absorbed in their own bubble of infatuation and emotionally cheat。 I'll stop rating books I dnf but this is a reminder to myself to NOT pick up this book again。 It's like Anna and the French Kiss all over again, where we're supposed to turn against the girlfriend/fiancee who's totally NOT in the wrong while the two MCs are selfishly absorbed in their own bubble of infatuation and emotionally cheat。 。。。more

When Issac and Aubrey meet they are two lost and broken souls who agree to spend an evening together。 4 years later kismet brings them back together。 While both have changed and grown, it takes the two together to truly heal。 I enjoyed the story of Aubrey’s growth, it had its moments but in the end, she was where she needed to be。 With Issac as her constant, she did not have to go it alone。 I enjoyed this easy to read, beautifully developed, story, and recommend it。

Enjoyable charactersThis was a book in which you can fall in love with the characters。 It flows well and although the story can be a bit cheesy at times, it was well written and a quick read。

Outstanding。This is a very heartwarming clean romance。 Nothing new about the one night stand which results in a surprise baby。 All of the characters are enjoyably endearing。 From both parents, Aubrey, Isaac and Claire, the surprise daughter。

3 stars This book wasn’t for me。 The writing was good, but personally I don’t like when steamy moments all fade to black。 I also prefer more drama and angst in my books, and this one had virtually none。 I wasn’t in love with any of the characters and didn’t connect with the story emotionally。 this book just wasn’t to my specific tastes。

Was a good bookI really liked the story。 I love books with 2nd chances and surprise babies! The only reason I gave this a 4 star was because I like a little more sexiness。 I'm not talking 50 shades or anything like that but there was seriously NO sexiness in this book。。 To clean for me。 Was a good bookI really liked the story。 I love books with 2nd chances and surprise babies! Based on the synopsis, never would I ever expect that special something the main characters were sharing would be the exact thing I disliked most; thus, this book was just an okay read for me。 If it weren't for my newly-discovered, newly-favorited author, I didn't think I'd pick this up in the first place。 To my surprise, the overall story was still well-plotted and I sort of enjoyed the protagonists' journey by the end of it。 :)Full review to come。。。hopefully soon。 Based on the synopsis, never would I ever expect that special something the main characters were sharing would be the exact thing I disliked most; thus, this book was just an okay read for me。 If it weren't for my newly-discovered, newly-favorited author, I didn't think I'd pick this up in the first place。 To my surprise, the overall story was still well-plotted and I sort of enjoyed the protagonists' journey by the end of it。 :)Full review to come。。。hopefully soon。 。。。more

Well worth the readMostly clean, error free, stand alone, and a HEA。 Now that we have that out of the way, let's talk story。 There are a few things I would have liked a little different, like a few areas that drag or areas that go by too quickly。 Over all, this is a deep, light, happy, sad, forgiveness, healing story with a cast you will like。 There is a person or two that you will dislike but no real bad guys。 It isn't that type of story。 I enjoyed it。 Well worth the readMostly clean, error free, stand alone, and a HEA。 Now that we have that out of the way, let's talk story。 There are a few things I would have liked a little different, like a few areas that drag or areas that go by too quickly。 Over all, this is a deep, light, happy, sad, forgiveness, healing story with a cast you will like。 There is a person or two that you will dislike but no real bad guys。 It isn't that type of story。 I enjoyed it。 。。。more

First off I have to say that this is one of those books you love to hate because the heroine is such a biatch。 She is rude and obnoxious and she has no regard for others feelings and her secrets well let's just say that the secrets really irritated me。 I understood she had abandonment issues with her mother leaving her but that did not give her the right to ask like a spoiled little biatch。Aubrey has meet the man of her dreams Isaac who is a doctor and he is loving and caring and so much more。 T First off I have to say that this is one of those books you love to hate because the heroine is such a biatch。 She is rude and obnoxious and she has no regard for others feelings and her secrets well let's just say that the secrets really irritated me。 I understood she had abandonment issues with her mother leaving her but that did not give her the right to ask like a spoiled little biatch。Aubrey has meet the man of her dreams Isaac who is a doctor and he is loving and caring and so much more。 They have this great chemistry and share one night together that is simply amazing and then she is gone。 She leaves Isaac and does not see him until five years later。 In the five years she has a huge secret she needs to tell Isaac and when she does she is worried about his reaction but the way he handles her secret really had my heart skipping a beat because I want a man like that。 Isaac really loves Aubrey and he is willing to do anything for her but she is such a biatch to him and it all stems from her mother abandoning her。 So yes I liked this book but the main character really had me on the edge of my seat yelling at my kindle wanting to punch through it to her because she needed a good arse kicking so she can act right! 。。。more

Our Finest Hour by Jennifer Millikin is the first book in her The Time series, a series of standalones。This is Aubrey and Isaac's story。 Both are good people who had a bad hand dealt in life。 They meet and have a casual encounter。 He moves away and she has no means to reach out to him。 Big surprise when they meet 5 years later in an ER。 He's the surgeon who operates on her daughter。 I'm a Huge sucker for oops baby stories and this is a great one。 There is no villain, only two people who try thei Our Finest Hour by Jennifer Millikin is the first book in her The Time series, a series of standalones。This is Aubrey and Isaac's story。 Both are good people who had a bad hand dealt in life。 They meet and have a casual encounter。 He moves away and she has no means to reach out to him。 Big surprise when they meet 5 years later in an ER。 He's the surgeon who operates on her daughter。 I'm a Huge sucker for oops baby stories and this is a great one。 There is no villain, only two people who try their best。 You can literally feel their insecurities, their doubt, but also their determination and their love。 Our Finest Hour is a beautifully thought out, beautifully told and beautifully written story。 The next books in the series are Magic Minutes and A Lifetime of a Second。 I can't wait to get my hands on these precious'。 。。。more

I loved this book from the very first page to the last。 Every chapter most exciting than the last。 This was an extremely good book。 The book starts off with Aubrey broken up over a break-up and spending “one hour” with a man she will never see again。 Fast forward five years and there that man is again。。 but there’s complications。 If you want to see what happens you will have to read this incredible book。Favorite Quote: “Perfection isn’t attainable, I know that now。 It doesn’t even exist。 But whe I loved this book from the very first page to the last。 Every chapter most exciting than the last。 This was an extremely good book。 The book starts off with Aubrey broken up over a break-up and spending “one hour” with a man she will never see again。 Fast forward five years and there that man is again。。 but there’s complications。 If you want to see what happens you will have to read this incredible book。Favorite Quote: “Perfection isn’t attainable, I know that now。 It doesn’t even exist。 But when I look out at the scene in front of me, I know this is the best it could ever be。”Great author and I cannot wait to start the second book。 。。。more

I was wrong this book is a bit predictable as I guessed two things correctly about the endings/outcomes, but that wasn't a bad thing。 The book was still very engaging and hard to put down。I liked the pace of the book and how the author did not go into detail about nonsense or unnecessary things。 She moved it along really well in fact。The only thing that bothered me a bit about the book was lack of some background info。 It also surprised me at how "clean" the book was - it did not delve into inti I was wrong this book is a bit predictable as I guessed two things correctly about the endings/outcomes, but that wasn't a bad thing。 The book was still very engaging and hard to put down。I liked the pace of the book and how the author did not go into detail about nonsense or unnecessary things。 She moved it along really well in fact。The only thing that bothered me a bit about the book was lack of some background info。 It also surprised me at how "clean" the book was - it did not delve into intimate, sexual scenes but strongly eluded or concluded to it happening。Although the book was not as fulfilling as I would have liked or had a major impact on me, it was a feel good book with a happy ending。 I feel like her other books will be similar so I now know that she is probably going to be a writer that I can count on to read her books in the future。 。。。more

Good start to the series。 I thought this was a heart warming book。 The story was good but I felt that some of the plots could have had more details。 Not a cliffhanger。

Wonderful storyI loved this book - the story, the writing - everything about it。 It is not hard to tell that this book was written from the heart。 I intend to read everything this author writes and have already ordered the next two books in this series。 The story of Aubrey and her fight to become a whole and loving person after suffering abandonment by her mother at a young age is so inspiring。 I loved the interaction between Aubrey and Isaac, as well as that with her wonderful father。 This was Wonderful storyI loved this book - the story, the writing - everything about it。 It is not hard to tell that this book was written from the heart。 I intend to read everything this author writes and have already ordered the next two books in this series。 The story of Aubrey and her fight to become a whole and loving person after suffering abandonment by her mother at a young age is so inspiring。 I loved the interaction between Aubrey and Isaac, as well as that with her wonderful father。 This was a really good book! 。。。more

Loved this story!Childhood wounds really do affect us our whole lives and this author conveys that beautifully in this story。 I cannot understand how a mom can walk away from her child。 I love that Isaac helped her finally find some real peace。Great book。 Highly recommended。

Truly a must read I enjoyed it immensely。 The beginning was a little choppy, I wanted to know about the addition of Claire。 Being pregnant, struggling school and birth。 I think we were cheated。 It turned great about 30% So do not worry my friends you will be rewarded。 Special mention to Lucia because her story blew me away

I found this gem on Amazon the other day and once I started reading, I did nothing else until I had finished the very last line! While on a rare night out with friends, Aubrey meets Issac and as they talk and drink, she spills her guts about her mother leaving when she was a small child up, her boyfriend recently dumping her, and everything in between。 Issac is also nursing some serious wounds that he doesn’t share, and although he’s leaving the country in a few days, he and Aubrey decide to share an hour together full of passion。 Five years later, they accidentally meet again and everything has changed。 Soon, Aubrey is fighting against her own rules of pushing everyone away as she realizes how important Issac has become in her life。The term “mother” is probably one of the most sensitive subjects in my life and I went into this not realizing that Aubrey has a ton of issues involving love, trust, and worthiness due to her mother leaving her and her father when she was a young child。 However, this in no way impacted my enjoyment of this story and watching Aubrey journey through her own personal struggles and successes。 I related to and enjoyed the close relationship she had with her father and absolutely loved her young daughter, Claire。 There honestly are not enough words to describe how much I loved Issac and his mother Lucia。 His father and sister were perfectly fine, but it was clear how much of his mother’s love and spirit had impacted Issac throughout his life, contributing to the incredible man he became。 My only real issue with this novel was Aubrey herself。 I did like her character and I loved the happy moments that she experienced。 Even some of the not so happy moments were still relevant and added depth to her character。 However, her fears and issues became cumbersome over the course of the novel, as did her friend Britt trying to analyze her issues and I guess an attempt to bring some clarity to certain fears and concerns in Aubrey’s life。 There is no way to estimate the number of people in this world that have had one or both of their parents leave them, but everyone does have a choice to make of it what they want。 Live a life in fear of abandonment and having your heart broken, or take risks like the rest of the universe? That issue aside, this is a great read and I definitely recommend it to fans of second-chance romances! Jennifer Millikin is an incredibly talented author and shows amazing talent in her characterization and her relatable and well-developed plot structure。 Her writing style will make you feel as if you are right there in the novel with the characters, the writing is perfectly paced, and I promise that you will fall in love with Issac! 。。。more

I haven't read a romance in awhile, but this one called to me。 I read a review by another reader who was frustrated with Aubrey's continuing pain and distress from being abandoned by her mother as a child。 I actually found it quite believable。 I suspect those readers have not experienced great loss in their lives to know how the pain lingers and effects your life even as time moves on。 Her pain resonates with me。 Isaac and family may have been a little too perfect, but I really enjoyed this roma I haven't read a romance in awhile, but this one called to me。 I read a review by another reader who was frustrated with Aubrey's continuing pain and distress from being abandoned by her mother as a child。 I actually found it quite believable。 I suspect those readers have not experienced great loss in their lives to know how the pain lingers and effects your life even as time moves on。 Her pain resonates with me。 Isaac and family may have been a little too perfect, but I really enjoyed this romance novel。 。。。more
